Info: | De volledige Britse en Amerikaanse versies van het album 'Liquid Gold'. 3cd's Met de top 10 hits 'Dance Yourself Dizzy' en 'Substitute' in 7", 12" en instrumentale versies Plus verdere singles 'Anyway You Do It', 'Mr. Groovy', 'The Night, The Wine And The Roses', 'Don't Panic', 'One Of Us Fell In Love', 'Where Did We Go Wrong' en 'What's She Got' samen met 7th Heaven en Yomanda remixes van 'Dance Yourself Dizzy' en Ellie Hope solo-opnames 'Lucky', 'Shake' en 'Don't Feel Sorry'. Na in 1978 ontdekt te zijn door producer Adrian Baker, miste Liquid Gold nipt de Top 40 met hun debuutsingle 'Anyway You Do It'. De clubvriendelijke keerzijde, 'My Baby's Baby', werd begunstigd door Amerikaanse dj's, wiens zware draaitafelrotatie het nummer naar nummer vijf in de Billboard Dance Charts stuwde. Voortbouwend op die eerste successpurt zou 1980 een geweldig jaar voor de groep blijken te zijn, te beginnen met het onvergetelijke 'Dance Yourself Dizzy', een eeuwige klassieker die nummer twee bereikte in de hitlijsten. Dit werd snel gevolgd door nog een Top Tien hit, 'Substitute' en de Top 40 single 'The Night, The Wine And The Roses'. Hun titelloze album haalde ook de Top 40. Verder chartsucces volgde in de vroege jaren 80 met de Song For Europe-inzending 'Don't Panic' uit 1981, en het melancholische 'Where Did We Go Wrong'. Leadzangeres Ellie Hope bracht in 1983 een solosingle uit, 'Lucky' en hoewel de groep in 1984 zou ontbinden, vond hun kenmerkende hit 'Dance Yourself Dizzy' nieuw leven in de jaren 90 toen het werd gesampled door Yomanda op de Top Tien-hit 'Synth And Strings'. Nu zijn voor het eerst hun album, 7", 12", instrumentale versies en remixes verzameld voor één definitieve 3CD-collectie. |
